When we launched our GPS product earlier this year, we knew it was a great product, and we knew it could help consumers and dealers alike. One dealership who tried it found out first hand, and shared their story with us — Lustine Dodge in Woodbridge, VA. This dealership installed the GPS system on every vehicle in their lot, and it paid off.
On a busy Saturday in late October, the dealership discovered a 2016 black Dodge Challenger was missing from the lot. After using the GPS system to verify it was not where it should have been, a dealership rep contacted the GPS 800 number to report the theft.
Our GPS representative who answered the call immediately located the missing vehicle: they found the Challenger in a retail center parking lot in Hampton, VA, several hours south of the dealership. The representative coordinated with local law enforcement and used the GPS system to guide them to the missing vehicle in real time, without missing a beat.
This is where the story gets even better. Rather than just reclaim the stolen car — it was sitting parked and empty when the officers found it — they decided to wait to see if the thieves returned to the vehicle. And their patience was rewarded: three suspects returned to the vehicle, and all were arrested without incident.
“It was an added bonus that the car thieves were also apprehended, helping to further deter future crimes at our dealership and in our area,” said Jason Dill, general manager of Lustine Dodge. “With this one incident, the RoadVantage GPS System has already provided a significant return on our investment.”
It is one thing to talk about the potential benefits of a product, it is another to see the benefits of that product in action. We knew this was a great product that could truly help consumers, allowing them to recover lost or stolen cars that otherwise might be gone forever. And we knew dealerships could benefit from it as well, using it to help with lot and inventory management. Hearing about this success story for Lustine Dodge is incredibly gratifying.
